UNL Grad Programs Make Latest U.S. News Ranks

U.S. News and World Report released its 2012 "Best Graduate Schools" rankings tables this week, and on the list are UNL colleges of Business, Education and Human Sciences, Engineering, and Law.
The "complete and extended rankings or data" can only be found on the U.S. News Graduate School Compass, at the U.S. News Store. The U.S. News Best Grad Schools book will be available April 5.
UNL's College of Business's "Part-Time MBA School" was ranked tied for 50th. The College of Education and Human Sciences was ranked among "Schools of Education," at 50th, tied with University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Among "Schools of Engineering," UNL was listed at number 95, tied with University of Kansas, LSU, Texas Tech and Worcester Polytechnic. The UNL College of Law was placed at 84th with 10 other schools.

Omtvedt to Talk About IANR, East Campus History

John "Jack" Goebel talks UNL history during his Jan. 27 "Oral History" interview at the Wick Alumni Center.
UNL's "Emeriti Event: Oral History" series continues today with Irv Omtvedt, former vice chancellor of the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The interview, led by Dan Wheeler, president of the UNL Emeriti Association, is 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., in the Wick Alumni Center.
Omtvedt, who retired in 2000 after a 25-year career at UNL, will discuss IANR and East Campus events he experienced first hand. more...

Forums to Examine Opportunities, Challenges in the Big Ten
The Faculty Senate and Academic Planning Committee are hosting two forums on how UNL will be impacted by joining the Big Ten Conference and Committee on Institutional Cooperation.
Chancellor Harvey Perlman will lead the first forum from 2 to 3:30 this afternoon in the Nebraska Union Auditorium. Perlman will outline where UNL stands relative to other Big Ten institutions and offer a vision on what it means to compete academically within the new conference. Lied Extends Half Price Tickets to Faculty, Staff
The Lied Center for Performing Arts is offering faculty and staff the opportunity to purchase half price tickets to performances this week. The faculty/staff discount is available for The Elders concert on March 17 and the Count Basie Orchestra performance on March 18.
The Elders is a Celtic rock band from Kansas City. The St. Patrick's Day performance begins at 7:30 p.m. The half-price tickets are $14.50/$12 for faculty, staff and students. UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Vision: From the Life of Hildegard von Bingen and White Material. Both films will screen through Mar. 17.
