Highway Paleontology Celebrates 50-year Partnership

The University of Nebraska State Museum and the Nebraska Department of Roads are celebrating 50 years of life in the past lane. A special exhibit continues at Morrill Hall highlighting spectacular fossil finds salvaged over the last five decades through Nebraska's Highway Paleontology Program, a collaborative effort between the state agencies.

"Highway Paleontology: Life in the Past Lane" features rare specimens, including the remains of a six-foot-tall flightless bird, a 40-foot-long plesiosaur, a lion 25 percent larger than the modern African lion and a giant land tortoise discovered by the program in 2009. more...

Annual Prairie Schooner Writing Prizes Announced
Prairie Schooner Winter 2011 Issue

Prairie Schooner, the quarterly literary magazine published at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has announced the winners of 18 writing prizes for work published in 2010. The total prize money awarded was $8,500, with the highest individual prize of $1,500.

Prairie Schooner is available at chain and independent bookstores throughout the country. Subscriptions or individual copies may be ordered by calling (800) 715-2387. UNL Campus Spring
Adjusted Hours, Bus Routes For Spring Break

Parking and Transit Services will adjust UNL's bus operating schedule on March. 21. The change is due to lower passenger demand when classes are not in session. Starting March. 21, the wait between buses on City Campus will shift to 20 minutes, while the wait on East Campus will be 10 minutes. Service hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Regular bus service returns March. 28.

UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents My Dog Tulip and The Time That Remains. Both films will screen through Mar. 24.
