UNL Earns Tree Campus USA Recognition
Tree Campus

For the third year in a row, UNL has earned Tree Campus USA recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation.

The 2010 designation recognizes the university's dedication to campus tree management and environmental stewardship. UNL was one of the first nine universities to earn the Tree Campus USA designation in 2008.

To earn the honor, UNL met core standards of tree management and community engagement. To meet those standards, Landscape Services held an Arbor Day tree planting ceremony, formed a tree advisory committee, and maintains a tree care plan. more...

UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Phip Ochs: There But For Fortunte and The Films of Susan Muska and Gréta Ólafsdóttir. The Films of Susan Muska and Gréta Ólafsdóttir will have various screenings through Mar. 29, including appearances by the filmmakers for Q&A with the audience. Phip Ochs: There But For Fortunte will play through Mar. 31

UNL Exchange Program Receives International Honor

The world's largest educational organization has honored a UNL exchange program for its innovation.

The New York-based Institute of International Education (IIE) has recognized the Harold E. Spencer Exchange Program in Teacher Education with a 2011 Andrew Heiskell Award for Innovation in International Education. The program's award recognizes best practices in international partnerships among cooperating U.S-Spain academic programs. Harriet Turner, a professor of modern languages and literatures and director of the exchange program, accepted the award at a recent IIE conference. She shares the honor with MariĀ­a Gomez Ortueta from the University of Castilla-La Mancha, UNL's partner in the exchange program. Thomas McGowan, chairman of the Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education Department, and Thomas Farrell, associate vice president for international affairs at the University of Nebraska, also were present at the awards ceremony. more...

Adjusted Hours, Bus Routes For Spring Break

Parking and Transit Services will adjust UNL's bus operating schedule on March. 21. The change is due to lower passenger demand when classes are not in session. Starting March. 21, the wait between buses on City Campus will shift to 20 minutes, while the wait on East Campus will be 10 minutes. Service hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Regular bus service returns March. 28.
