Public Guided Tour
Enjoy a guided tour of current exhibitions with a trained docent. Exhibitions covered include Marseille: White Corded Quilting, the first major display in the world of all-white quilted and corded French needlework, and Nebraska Quilts and Quiltmakers.

Renowned cast paper sculptors Allen and Patty Eckman will be working in the lobby of the Great Plains Art Museum to create two commissioned artworks for the museum's permanent collection. Visitors are welcome to come and observe their work, interact with the artists, or contact the curator to schedule a tour group.

'Focus Nebraska' for Earth Week; Events Continue

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's student government, ASUN, and the Environmental Resource Center have organized a weeklong event, "Focus Nebraska" April 18-22 during the week of Earth Day, April 22.
Thursday Evening at 7:30 pm in the Nebraska East Union Great Plains Room is the keynote speech by Joel Sartore. A life-long Nebraskan, Joel Sartore brings a sense of humor and a mid-western work ethic to all of his National Geographic magazine assignments. Two decades with the National Geographic Society have allowed him to cover everything from the remote Amazon rain forest to beer-drinking, mountain-racing firefighters in the United Kingdom. Sartore will talk about his experiences as a photographer and use those experiences to make sense of global warming. more...
