John Bender to receive Academic Freedom Award

News-editorial professor in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications John Bender has been awarded the James A. Lake Academic Freedom Award by the UNL Faculty Senate. He will receive the award today at 3:30 p.m. at the Faculty Senate meeting held in the Nebraska Union Auditorium.
Bender earned the award for his dedication to defending academic freedom and preserving the freedom to seek and communicate truth. As a tenured professor, Bender currently teaches basic and advanced reporting, communication law and history of mass media. Read more from Today@UNL…

'Mobile Computing Sprint' Continues Today 107 ARCHITECTURE HALL, MONDAY-FRIDAY, NOON
Information Services invites you to the 'Educause Mobile Computing 5-Day Sprint,' a free, weeklong experience allows you to participate in activities and discussions on the many ways mobile technologies are altering higher education. Interested UNL students, faculty and staff are invited to 107 Architecture Hall over the noon hour this week to participate in this national forum, provided by Educause, the nonprofit association for higher education technology.

The Academic Planning Committee has announced procedures for Phase Three of the FY 2012 UNL Budget Reduction Process, in response to Chancellor Harvey Perlman's announced $5 million in proposed reductions. Perlman outlined his proposal to campus on April 14.
The APC welcomes information from all who may be affected by the proposed reductions. This can be accomplished either in person at the scheduled budget hearing or in writing to the Committee. Specifics on presenting at a hearing and how to submit written materials are available at http://www.unl.edu/apc/. Read more about this announcement.
Win Win; For the Love of Movies at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Win Win and For the Love of Movies: The Story of American Firm Criticism. Win Win will screen through May 5, while For the Love of Movies: The Story of American Firm Criticism will show through Apr. 26.
