Journalism professor to teach in China
Joseph Weber, associate professor of journalism, will travel to Beijing, China, for a four-month teaching venture that begins Sept. 8. He will teach graduate students in the Global Business Journalism program at Tsinghua University's School of Journalism and Communication.
Organized by the International Center for Journalists in Washington, D.C., the GBJ program has provided education on Western-style business and economic reporting at Tsinghua since 2007. Tsinghua, a century-old university known as the MIT of China, opened its journalism school in 2002. Read more about this teaching trip on Today@UNL.

Chancellor establishes big goals for 2017
Chancellor Harvey Perlman called on faculty and staff to start thinking bigger.
In his annual State of the University address Sept. 1 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, Perlman descirbed UNL's move into the Big Ten Conference as, "an opportunity to reset the table." And with more than 1,000 in attendance, Perlman outlined four, six-year goals that will help define what it means for UNL to be a member of the new conference. Alumni to host 'Football Friday' events
Former Husker football players, current Nebraska athletic coaches and other local celebrities headline the Nebraska Alumni Association's 2011 Football Friday event series.
The third season of Football Fridays kicks off Sept. 2 at the Wick Alumni Center Holling Garden. The featured speaker is Nebraska football assistant Ross Els, who coaches linebackers. A roundtable of Husker experts including Husker legend Tommie Frazier, 2004 special teams MVP Brandon Rigoni and local media members will preview the Huskers' season opener and answer fan questions about the team. Ross to feature Husker football
Starting Sept. 3, Husker football's home games are being featured on the big screen at the Ross Media Arts Center. The family-friendly broadcasts are free and open to the public.
Starting with the 2:30 p.m., Sept. 3 game versus Tennessee-Chattanooga, the Ross will show all home Husker football games broadcast on network television. The games will play on the Ross' 40-foot screen. Read more about the broadcasts on Today@UNL
