Native artwork commemorating 9/11 leads fall Olson seminars

A talk on how Native American artists have contributed diverse works to memorialize 9/11 will lead off the fall semester series of the Paul A. Olson Seminars in Great Plains Studies at UNL.

Berger wins Cudahy award

Eric Berger's article, "Individual Rights, Judicial Deference, and Administrative Law Norms in Constitutional Decision Making," is the 2011 winner of the American Constitution Society's Richard D. Cudahy Writing Competition on Regulatory and Administrative Law. Berger is an assistant professor in the College of Law.
Berger's article argues that courts hearing constitutional individual rights challenges to administrative agency actions should take greater account of the fact and nature of agency action. Read more about Berger's article and award on Today@UNL.

UHC offers Insurance 101 sessions
Insurance 101 will be held Sept. 7 at noon and 6 p.m. at the University Health Center in conference rooms A, B, C.
Insurance 101 will discuss insurance terminology and summarize the UNL Healthy Option Student Plan as a part of a health literacy campaign. Food and refreshments will be provided. The event is sponsored by the UHC, Aetna Student Health and Ameritas. Read more about Insurance 101 on Today@UNL.

Enrollment steady; gains made in graduates, international undergrads
With a 0.4 percent increase in first-time freshmen enrollment and a larger-than-average graduating class for 2010, UNL's total fall 2011 enrollment was virtually unchanged over last year. A total of 24,593 students are attending UNL this fall, marking a 0.1 percent decrease over a year earlier.
UNL graduated a record number of students during the past year (August 2010-May 2011) when 4,935 students obtained their bachelor's degrees, compared with 4,602 the year before. This year's first-time freshmen number 4,093. Read more about enrollment numbers on Today@UNL.
'Psychology of Money' presentation is today

The UNL Student Money Management Center will be kicking off its Financial Success Program Speaker Series Sept. 7. Kathleen Prochaska-Cue will be presenting "Psychology of Money" from 6 -7:30 p.m. in the Nebraska Union. Room will be posted. All UNL students, faculty and staff are welcome. SMMC representatives will also be presenting "6 Steps to Financial Health."
Eating Disorder Education and Prevention group holds meeting
The Eating Disorder Education and Prevention group at UNL will hold its first meeting at 6:30 p.m., Sept. 7 in the Nebraska Union. The meeting is free and open to the public.
The mission of the group is to encourage students to move toward an accepting attitude of body size and shape; to educate in the areas of eating disorders, body image and wellness; and to provide resources and referrals on campus.
