CASNR issues call for new course proposals

CASNR will provide seed funds to develop new courses and/or revise existing courses that address important issues and challenges for the future of agriculture within the context of natural resource use, management, and long-term global needs and sustainability.
The Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources has defined goals for innovating agriculture and natural resources to 2025. One of these goals is related to the topic of agricultural literacy and more broadly, science literacy. Read more about this talk on Today@UNL.
NET to honor McBride, rename headquarters

NET is honoring the legacy of Jack G. McBride by renaming its headquarters. Pursuant to the 102nd Nebraska Legislature's action earlier this year, the NET building has been renamed the Terry M. Carpenter and Jack. G. McBride Nebraska Educational Telecommunications Center.
A 1:30 p.m., Sept. 9 ceremony at the NET headquarters, 1800 N. 33rd St., will celebrate the name change. A new sign will be unveiled outside with remarks by Rod Bates, NET general manager, and Ron Hull, NET senior adviser. Photos and film memorabilia, introductions of the McBride family and a reception hosted by Jim and Rhonda Seacrest. Read more about the renaming on Today@UNL.

CEHS holds kick off event
The College of Education and Human Sciences will host a kick off event today at 5 p.m. on the green space between the Kauffman Center and Henzilik Hall. Food will be available and guests will be able to find out about CEHS RSOs, meet student advisory board, socialize with other students in the college and more while participating in games for prizes.

Officials break ground on Haymarket arena
Chancellor Harvey Perlman and NU Regent Tim Clare helped city and state officials break ground on Lincoln's West Haymarket arena Sept. 7. During the ceremony, Perlman said the arena was a step toward the future for Lincoln, comparing the project to UNL's move to the Big Ten Conference.
Clare, who is the university's representative on the West Haymarket Joint Public Agency, said the $150 million arena construction is proceeding on time and on budget. He hailed the use of local construction companies and materials and said the project was being done transparently. Read more about the groundbreaking on Today@UNL.
Gildersleeve takes leadership in Housing

Sue Gildersleeve
Sue Gildersleeve has been selected as the new director of University Housing and Dining Services following a national search. Juan Franco, vice chancellor for Student Affairs, made the announcement. Gildersleeve has been serving as interim director since former housing director Doug Zatechka retired late in 2010.
Gildersleeve has served as associate director for two of Housing's operational divisions since 2000 when she was hired to oversee the Housing Division as associate director for business and fiscal operations, later becoming associate director for business and administrative operations.
