National Security, Civil Liberties and Ethics discussion at Law Collegee

A panel discussion at the UNL College of Law is part of the university's hosting of the National Whistleblower Tour. Associate Dean of Law Richard Moberly, Thomas Drake and Jesselyn Radack will visit at noon Sept. 27 in Hamann Auditorium in a fascinating program about whistle-blowing and national security. The panel is free and open to the public.
At a talk at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, Drake and Radack will be joined by Gary Aguirre, Securities and Exchange Commissions whistleblower; and Mike McGraw, Kansas City Star Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter; for another free public presentation. Keystone Pipeline meetings live on NET2 and NET website

The U.S. Department of State has released the final version of the Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline project, and now public meetings on the proposed project will begin across the country. NET News will carry live coverage of the Nebraska meeting today at Pershing Auditorium in Lincoln. Coverage will be broadcast on NET2 in two sessions, one from noon to 3:30 p.m., and another from 4 to 8 p.m., Central.

Maathai dies in Nairobi, was to deliver Thompson lecture
Nobel Peace Prize laureate Wangari Maathai died of cancer Sept. 25 in Nairobi, the New York Times reported. Maathai was scheduled to deliver a lecture Sept. 28 at the E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues at UNL. That lecture was canceled last week when she became too ill to travel.
