Combined Campaign drive kicks off today
UNL is aiming to make a big, positive impact by participating in the Lincoln-area Combined Campaign for Health and Human Services, Nov. 1-18. The theme is "Big Impact — Go Big, Give Big." Kick-off events are planned for 8:30 to 10 a.m., Nov. 1 in the East Union and 8:30 to 10 a.m., Nov. 2 in the Nebraska Union.
Chancellor Harvey Perlman, and Husker baseball head coach Darin Erstad, are co-chairs for UNL's 2011 Combined Campaign. Read more about Combined Campaign on Today@UNL.

Sandra Postel, a leading global authority on international freshwater issues, will discuss the growing competition for water and its effect on global security when she visits UNL for the E.N. Postel, an acclaimed author, consultant and lecturer, will present "Dividing the Waters: Global Security in a Water-Stressed World," a discussion of how growing competition for the Earth's freshwater supply will increasingly define economic, social and ecological security. Farritor to lead free Innovation Seminar Series
An Innovation Seminar Series will offer free sessions providing tools to foster creativity and new thinking approaches. Shane Farritor, professor in mechanical and materials engineering and founder of two Nebraska-based startup companies, leads the series.
The series continues today, with two locations and times: Jorgensen Hall room 110, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. or Nebraska Educational Telecommunications, 1800 N. 33rd St., from 6 to 7 p.m. In today's session titled, "Brainstorming and Other Thinkertoys," Farritor will discuss specific steps can be taken to enhance a brainstorming session.
