Opening of American Exchange Center celebrated in Xi'an
The University of Nebraska and China's Xi'an Jiaotong University celebrated April 21 the official opening of the American Exchange Center. The center is an NU-wide initiative that aims to expose Chinese students and faculty to United States history, law, medicine, art, culture and government. It is also designed to strengthen Nebraska's collaboration with China.
The exchange center is one component of NU's overall global engagement strategy to build relationships with key nations that will benefit Nebraska and the world. Only 10 such centers won seed funding from the U.S. government after a competitive application process. Read more about this opening in Today@UNL.

Fastest supercomputer in Nebraska headlines HCC user meeting today
News of Tusker, a new Dell supercomputer more than twice as fast as any other in Nebraska, will headline the Holland Computing Center user meeting, 2:30 p.m. at the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center, room 202.
A reception serving hors d'oeuvres will follow at Schorr Center from 5-7 p.m. Both the meeting and reception are free and open to the public, but registration is requested.
Early Childhood Summit is today
The Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools and the Buffett Early Childhood Institute will chart the landscape of Nebraska's early childhood research, practice and policy when they assemble the state's top minds for an April 25 summit in Lincoln.
The second biennial CYFS Summit on Research in Early Childhood will feature 15 presentations from CYFS faculty and affiliates conducting research on early learning and development, family engagement, professional development, and the economic impacts of early intervention. Content Convergence Conference examines analytics, social media

Join other university communicators today for a Content Convergence Conference on analytics and social media. The session is 1 to 3 p.m. in Andersen Hall, room 15. Registration is not required. Seth Meranda, user experience architect for University Communications, will discuss how to use Google Analytics to track individual campus units' pursuit of the goals Chancellor Harvey Perlman outlined in his 2011 State of the University address.
The social media discussion will include presentations by Alice Henneman, UNL Extension Educator, and Amy Struthers, associate professor of advertising and public relations. This free session is offered by University Communications as part of a series of Content Convergence Conferences designed for UNL staff or faculty who create and update department and college websites. The sessions are open to all faculty, staff and students.

De-stress in the 'Stress Free Zone' April 25-26
Come relax and unwind before finals week at the Stress Free Zone. The Zone will be at the Nebraska Union April 25-26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Zone will offer free snacks, giveaways, massages, pet a dog, reflexology and other activities. The event is sponsored by the University Health Center, UNL Campus Recreation, UNL Student Management Center and Lincoln Pet Partners.

The Biotechnology/Life Sciences Seminar Series continues today with a 4 p.m. presentation by Dr. Kevin Campbell of the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He will discuss "Mechanistic and Molecular Insights into the Pathogenesis of Muscular Dystrophy." The lecture is in the Beadle Center, room E103.
The talk and a 3:30 p.m. reception are free and open to the public.

Applicants sought for 'boot camp' on entrepreneurship, technology
NUTech Ventures is offering a weeklong "Boot Camp for Entrepreneurship and Technology," May 14-18. The session is designed for students and post-doctorates. Registration is due by May 4.
The boot camp is designed to help individuals turn an idea into a high-technology business. Topics to be covered include business model generation, customer development, team building, legal basics and financing. Read more about this opportunity in Today@UNL.

UNL launches Nebraska App
UNL has launched the Nebraska App, a suite of mobile applications that makes essential university resources available on mobile devices. Students can check grades, access course content and browse the course catalog. They can access the public directory and get in touch instantly, keep tabs on Husker sports, find places on the campus map, stay informed with the latest campus news, watch videos, and even listen to podcasts of popular lectures in iTunesU.
