Deadline for Gilman Scholarship is Friday
The deadline for students to register for the Gilman International Scholarship is Feb. 15. The online application is due March 5. The scholarship, supported by the U.S. Department of State, helps fund study abroad opportunities.
Samantha Marcoux, a global studies major, is one UNL student who has benefited from the Gilman scholarship. She received an award and studied in Seoul, South Korea, for the 2011-2012 academic year. Read more about this deadline in Today@UNL.
Lorenz named a DuPont Young Professor

Aaron Lorenz, assistant professor of agronomy and horticulture, is one of nine professors in the nation to be honored by the DuPont Young Professors program. The awards are given to advance key research that is relevant to DuPont. Lorenz is part of the 2012 class of honorees.
Lorenz has been at UNL since 2010. He was honored for his work in the optimization of genomic selection for plant breeding. The award is $25,000 per year, renewed for up to three years. Read more about this award in Today@UNL.
Status of Women award nominations due Feb. 15
The Chancellor's Commission on the Status of Women is accepting nominations for faculty, staff and student efforts to create a climate that encourages women to succeed at UNL. Nominations are due Feb. 15.
Two awards are given, one for faculty/staff the other for students/student organizations. For more information, including nomination forms, go to the Chancellor's Commission on the Status of Women website.

Rich Leiter, director of the Schmid Law Library and professor of law, has been selected to join the editorial advisory board of "Collection Management," a peer-reviewed journal published by Taylor & Francis. The post is a three-year appointment.
The board includes 19 members from all over the world.

'Peter Pan' featured at the Lied
Tony Award-nominee Cathy Rigby is featured in "Peter Pan," a new production of the timeless classic that plays the Lied Center for Performing Arts at 7 p.m.
Pre-show talks are scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Lied Center's Steinhart Room. The talks will be led by Brad Buffum, production stage manager for the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film; Karen Wills, program coordinator for the University Program Council; and Kirk Monesmith. The pre-show talks are free to "Peter Pan" ticket holders. Ticket prices are $49 for adults and $24.50 for youth. HIVE hosts creative contest
HIVE is hosting an advertising design competition, Saturday, February 16, 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in ARCH Hall. Graphic and web designers, videomakers and writers will develop creative campaigns for real clients. Prizes will be awarded. Students $10/Non-students $20, including meals.
