Gift sets Johnny Carson Theater renovation

UNL's Johnny Carson Theater is getting a $571,500 facelift. The renovation, made possible with a gift from the John W. Carson Foundation, was announced April 26. The project will include a complete redesign of the theater's entrance and lobby and a new performance floor.

At the gift announcement, Chancellor Harvey Perlman said UNL is again honored to receive support from the foundation of the late Johnny Carson, who proudly grew up in Nebraska and graduated from the university. Read more about this gift in Today@UNL.

39 graduates featured in capstone exhibition

The work of 39 graduating art and art history seniors is featured in the "BA/BFA Capstone Exhibition," opening today in the Eisentrager˙Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. The exhibit is open through May 3.

A closing reception is 5 to 7 p.m. May 3 in the gallery. The reception is free and open to the public. Read more about this exhibition in Today@UNL.

The Company You Keep, Trance play at the Ross

Robert Redford's drama The Company You Keep is new at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. Also continuing for a final week is director Danny Boyle's kinetic thriller Trance. Both films are rated R.

The Company You Keep ends May 16; Trance ends May 2. Read more about these films on the Ross website.

Quilt museum earns accreditation

The International Quilt Study Center and Museum has achieved accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums, the highest national recognition for a museum. Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies and to the museum-going public.

AAM accreditation is the field's primary vehicle for quality assurance, self-regulation and public accountability, and earns national recognition for a museum for its commitment to excellence in all that it does: governance, collections stewardship, public programs, financial stability, high professional standards and continued institutional improvement. Golf classic

Registration open for Intercampus Golf Classic

UNL will host the 20th annual Intercampus Golf Classic on May 21 at Woodland Hills Golf Course, 6000 Woodland Hills Drive in Eagle. The deadline to register is May 10. The entry fee is $50 and includes green fees, cart rental and access to the driving range.

Team and pin prizes will be awarded. For more information, go to the Campus Recreation website.
