Degrees granted to some 2,750 at University of Nebraska-Lincoln

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln granted degrees to more than 2,750 students at commencement exercises May 3 and 4 in separate ceremonies for baccalaureate, graduate and law degrees. This marks the second-largest graduating class in UNL history, behind only the approximately 2,800 in May 2012.

The graduates are from 44 states and 36 countries. Read a full list of graduates.

 

2013 Water for Food Conference

2013 Water for Food Conference continues

Recent years have seen major droughts, floods and extreme temperatures affecting vast areas of the globe, including some of its most productive agricultural regions. Experts from around the world will discuss those challenges during the 2013 Water for Food Conference May 5-8 in Lincoln. The conference, whose theme is "Too Hot, Too Wet, Too Dry: Building Resilient Agroecosystems," will be at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA.

Hosted by the Robert B. Daugherty Water for Food Institute at the University of Nebraska and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the conference will feature plenary addresses by Benedito Braga, President, World Water Council; Rosina Bierbaum, University of Michigan; Cynthia Rosenzweig, NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies; Christo Fabricius, Nelson Mandela Metroplitan University, South Africa; Heidi Cullen, Climate Central; Chuck Hibberd, University of Nebraska-Lincoln; and others Learn more on the 2013 Water for Food Conference website.

Sheldon transforms into 'Naked Museum' to celebrate 50th anniversary

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Sheldon Museum of Art is being transformed into "The Naked Museum." For the months of May and June, Sheldon's collection of 12,000 objects will be placed in storage to focus on its greatest artwork: the museum's landmark Philip Johnson–designed building.

Visitors to the Naked Museum will experience Sheldon through a variety of activities and performances, including architectural tours, craft circles, dance, music, poetry, theater and yoga. All events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted. Read more about this celebration in Today@UNL.
