A free Bucket Calf workshop for youth ages 8–13 and parents interested in learning about the 4-H Bucket Calf project will be held on Sunday, March 27 at 1 p.m. at the Lancaster Event Center Fairgrounds – 4-H Office (near Pavilion 3). Lancaster County Super Fair 4-H Bucket Calf Superintendent Julia Plugge will be the presenter.
This 4-H project is designed to introduce youth to beef and dairy projects. 4-H’ers start with a smaller, less intimidating size of animal and become comfortable with cattle as they grow. This workshop will cover how to find a calf, daily care and management techniques, interviewing skills, tips on recordkeeping and showmanship techniques. Youth will be able to see their hard work pay off at the 4-H Bucket Show during the Super Fair and may show the same calf two years in a row. The workshop will cover the simple steps of bringing a calf to fair.
Please RSVP by Friday, March 25 by contacting Calvin DeVries at 402-441-7180 or calvin.devries@unl.edu.
