New in 4-H at Super Fair

The 2022 Lancaster County Super Fair will be July 28–Aug. 6 at the Lancaster Event Center Fairgrounds. 4-H & FFA Exhibits & Events are planned for July 28–31, and 4-H Horse Shows July 27–31. The Lancaster County 4-H & FFA Fair Book contains entry information for exhibiting in 4-H/FFA at the Super Fair. There are two versions online at http://lancaster.unl.edu/4h/Fair: one is the same as the printed version with changes not indicated, and one with changes from last year indicated in green text. Many fair handouts, forms and videos are, or will be, on this website.

See the Fair Book for detailed information about each of the following new classes or changes:

• Outdoor Adventures can be interview judged. Levels 2 and 3 are now State Fair eligible!

• Entomology — 2 new classes: Special Entomology Project and Special Entomology Project Display. This year’s special entomology project insect of the year is the tiger beetle.

• Shooting Sports Static Exhibits — Classes D347004–009 can be entered by anyone in the conservation and wildlife area.

• Visual Arts — Sketchbook Crossroads and Portfolio Pathways will now be under Visual Arts instead of Home Environment and will require Visual Arts Supporting Information. However, during static exhibit check-in, these exhibits will still be checked in at the Home Environment registration table.

• Woodworking — 2 new classes: Composite Wood Project and Outdoor Wood Project Made with Treated Wood.

• Forestry — 5 new classes: Forest Product Display, Forest Health Display, Wildfire Prevention Poster, Sustainable Landscape Diorama and Tree Planting Project Display.

• Pavilion 1 Arena — There will be one large arena for livestock (instead of two) with entrances on the east and west sides.

• Beef Show — New breed in the breeding classes: Red Angus.

• Rabbit Show — New breed in the breed classes: Dwarf Papillon. Check-in times will be Wednesday 5-8 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m.–Noon.

• Dog Show — Check-in will start on Saturday at 11 a.m. and the Dog Show will start at Noon, with the individual shows following one after another. Theme for the Costume Contest and Creative Kennel Contest is “Favorite Book.”

• Cat and Household Pets Static Exhibits — These will now be entered and displayed with all other static exhibits in the Lincoln Room instead of at the Cat and Household Pet Shows. During static exhibit check-in, these exhibits should be checked in at the General Areas registration table. Household Pets has a new class: Educational display/collage (3–6 mounted photos).

• Horse Show Schedule Changes — The Dressage Show will go back to 2 days and the Hunter Hack Jumper Shows will be moved from Thursday to Friday. Western Horse Show 1 and Roping/Working Ranch Shows will start at 9 a.m. instead of 8 a.m. Miniature Horse Show will start at 10 a.m. instead of 9 a.m.
