Social media such as Facebook and Twitter are becoming increasingly popular ways to communicate. Many 4-H members, parents and volunteers communicate with their clubs and other 4-H families using social media.

A reminder to all 4-H members, parents and volunteers that the Lancaster County 4-H Code of Conduct and Nebraska 4-H Volunteer Code of Ethics also applies to social media interactions.

The Lancaster County 4-H Code of Conduct states:
Character development is a cornerstone of the 4-H program. All 4-H members should strive to be good citizens, trustworthy, respectful, responsible, fair, and caring.
• Treat all people and property with respect, courtesy, consideration and compassion.
• Avoid personal put-downs, insults, name calling, swearing and language or nonverbal conduct likely to hurt or offend others.

Adults are reminded their actions teach and set an example for youth.

The purpose of 4-H is positive youth development. Positive communication and attitude creates a positive experience for everyone!
