Making Sense of Sensemaking

At January In-service, there was a workshop on Applying Sensemaking in 4-H. Our purpose was to provide hands-on experiences with sensemaking strategies and some sensemaking strategies participants could use in any program they are doing. At the end of the session, the facilitators asked participants what big questions they still had about sensemaking. We had a great response and received 86 questions from 75 different people. This Spring, the facilitators will be hosting some webinars that address these lingering questions. We have also put together a box folder which includes:
• Sensemaking handouts from January in-service and a longer version that includes more strategies
• Recording of the Making Sense of Sensemaking webinar from 2/19/20
• Information about Nebraska science standards
• Articles about facilitating sensemaking – written for teachers, many describe specific strategies like the ones we tried out at January in-service
• Research articles about sensemaking
