Upcoming Community Outreach Opportunities

Join UAAD in supporting HearU Nebraska in October. HearU Nebraska provides hearing aids to children ages 0-18 years old who may not otherwise be able to afford them. Now in its 10th year of existence, HearU Nebraska has provided nearly 700 hearing aids to more than 400 children from nearly 80 different communities across the state. The founder of HearU Nebraska, Stacie Ray, will be our featured speaker at the Oct. 17 meeting. UAAD is collecting donations to give to HearU Nebraska to help give the gift of hearing to more children in our state. Please bring your donations to the meeting. If you would like to contribute, but are unable to make it to the meeting, you may donate online or by mail to Kelcey Buck, 304B Barkley Memorial Center, 68583-0738.

UAAD’s community outreach activity for November is providing a meal for a support group at the Mourning Hope Grief Center the evening of Nov. 1. Mourning Hope provides support groups, community education, grief resources and referrals for grieving children, teens, young adults and their families when someone significant has a serious illness or has died. UAAD will provide a meal of sandwiches, chips and cookies/brownies. If you would like to contribute, please contact Community Outreach Committee co-chairs Kelcey Buck (kbuck2@unl.edu) or Stephanie Vendetti (stephanie.vendetti@unl.edu) for more information.
