These are uncertain times for sure, but students can rest easy knowing that high quality health care is available on campus at the University Health Center.

We’ve updated our processes and services to better serve students amidst the pandemic. Here are the seven things students need to know before they visit this semester:

1. We have new building hours – The health center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Hours may vary by service.
2. Appointments are now required – For the safety of patients and staff, we require students to schedule appointments before arriving at the health center. Same day appointments may be available depending upon their concern. To schedule, students can call 402.472.5000.
3. Telehealth care is available – Students can meet with a health center provider wherever it’s convenient for them. Our new Telehealth services are available primary care, nutrition counseling, physical therapy and mental health medication management. To schedule, students can call 402.472.5000. They can download the new Nebraska Medicine app to utilize a telehealth visit and to manage their health care on the go.
4. Safety is our top priority – We are taking protective measures to keep our Husker community safe. This includes screening patients for respiratory symptoms when scheduling an appointment and upon arrival to the building, installing plexiglass, enhancing our sanitization throughout the building, installing new hand sanitizer stations, enhancing our staff’s personal protective equipment and more. Learn more about the ways we are keeping you safe.
5. Try our new prescription options – If students do not wish to pick up their prescriptions in person at our pharmacy, they can enroll in our free mail order service that ships prescriptions directly to their dorm or home. They can also try our new curbside pickup option.
6. Take advantage of your student fees – As long as students are taking at least one on-campus credit hour, they have access to several health center services for no cost. This includes five free in-person or telehealth office visits to the Medical and/or Travel Clinic every academic year, free flu shots, one free nutrition counseling visit, free doctor-ordered wellness profiles and sexually transmitted infection testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea and HIV. Learn more about services covered by student fees.
7. We offer more than illness and injury care – Remember, we offer a wide variety of services to help students stay well, including physicals and wellness exams, management on ongoing medical concerns, nutrition counseling, immunizations, physical therapy, pharmacy, dental care, optometry, transgender care and much more. Learn more about our services.
In addition to these updates for students, we want staff members to know that you are eligible for certain health center services as well, including acute care at our medical clinic, pharmacy, dental and more. Learn about services available to staff.
