Dr. Charles “Chuck” Riedesel has officially retired from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. We will miss him and his devotion to student success. He served 25 years as the Chief Undergraduate Advisor and organized the first CSCE 10 course teaching it until 2017. His service to students earned him the University's James V. Griesen Exemplary Service to Students Award (2009) and was recognized eight times with the university’s Parents’ Recognition Award.

"Riedesel also established a new award for university academic advisors in 2017. The Dr. Charles Riedesel Outstanding Academic Advising Award is an $1000 award that recognizes an exceptional faculty or staff member who directly delivers advising services to undergraduates."

To fill the void left by Chuck the CSE Department has made some changes and added new staff over the last year. The CSE Outreach Advising and Community team is grateful to Chuck for the foundation he left and will carry on his legacy of serving students.

Jenna Huttenmaier, serves as an advisor and works closely with Career Services to ensure a strong collaboration. She is also taking the lead in coordinating with faculty as students enroll in the CSCE internship for credit course.

Jarrett Ramsey’s primary role is advising. He is developing our expertise in International and Transfer student advising.

Brittney Palmer is our primary contact for recruitment and outreach. She is working closely with the Office of Admissions. She will work with our student groups who are hosting the Lincoln Robotics league and various community outreach events. Brittney will serve advising needs during peak times, such as priority registration and NSE.

Ann Koopmann continues to advise students and leads the team. She coordinates the first year course and co-manages the Learning Assistant Program, supporting students in their first year courses. She also manages the Student Resource Center a hub for students to get help on courses from assigned TAs and tutors.
