Home Instead – Champions of Aging is working to prepare and educate the future workforce about the complexities and unique characteristics of the aging process. Paid internship/service year opportunities, both full and part-time, are open to students in college and to recent college graduates.

Paid internship/service opportunity: Home Instead - Champions of Aging. The goal of the Champions of Aging program is to build a future workforce that has an understanding and appreciation for the complexities and individuality of the aging process. We are working to accomplish this goal by offering paid internship / service year opportunities, both full and part time, to students in college and to recent college graduates.
Service year members have experience working in places such as Notre Dame Housing for moderate to low-income older adults, Stephens Center – Homeless Shelter, Intercultural Senior Center, University of Nebraska Omaha (both Omaha and Lincoln campuses), Alzheimer’s Association, the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging, Angels Care Hospice, and Endless Journey Hospice. For the past two years UNL has had two service members assigned to the Department of Gerontology working on outreach efforts, research projects, and community efforts designed to support the department’s mission of educating others about aging (just trying to make the connection.) In addition to service experience, students receive training through Home Instead that helps to build and gain leadership skills and experience.
Service year members are paid hourly, and full-time Champions also receive benefits.
