As you work with your students, you may be the person who first introduces them to the various fellowship and scholarship opportunities available for research, cross-cultural engagement, or public service. The Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships seeks your referrals of undergraduate applicants to represent UNL in upcoming competitions.

2022 Critical Language Scholar Rachael Lange says, “I applied for the Critical Languages Scholarship to gain immersive experience in Russian, refine the skills I’ve learned at the university, and begin building cultural bridges in this important language. I believe that communicating with people in their native language increases empathy, understanding, and kinship.”

Like Rachael, students who engage in the process of applying for a fellowship typically gain:
• a stronger sense of their professional interests, strengths and talents, career goals, and graduate school options.
• increased confidence in their writing and interviewing skills.
• stronger guidance and relationships with faculty mentors.
• deeper involvement in research, creative, cross-cultural engagement, and leadership activities.
