The E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues is hosting a Forum Youth Panel & Cooper Conversation entitled “Displacement and Reimagining the American Dream.” The event, co-sponsored by the Chancellor’s Diversity Commissions, will take place on Tuesday, November 14 from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Wick Alumni Center.

This interactive event will feature local students and young professionals sharing their lived experiences as immigrants and refugees. Each panelist will tell their story, presenting a multi-dimensional picture beyond what’s portrayed in the news. Panelists will then respond to questions on a range of relevant topics.

The panelists include undergraduate Reem Ahmed, recent graduate Dulce Garcia, community organizer Tut Kailech, and undergraduate Anna Synya. The panel will be moderated by Karla Hernandez Torrijos, undergraduate student and inaugural Student Storyteller in Residence with the Center for Great Plains Studies.

This event is free, but space is limited so early RSVPs are encouraged. Attendees are welcome to volunteer as “table hosts” to help facilitate conversations, by indicating their interest in the RSVP.

Doors open and dinner served at 6:30 pm. Panel begins at 7:00 pm. The panel will also be livestreamed and recorded.
