Save the Date: 3rd Annual AAA Conference Feb. 25 & Call for Proposals

The Academic Advising Association is excited to host its 3rd Annual Academic Advising conference. We hope you join us on Thursday, February 25th, 2016 from 9:00am-4:00pm in the Nebraska East Campus Union. This year we welcome Yuki Burton, an academic counselor at University of California, Berkeley’s Educational Opportunity Program as our guest speaker. Read more about her, her keynote and plenary session on the website.

The 2016 theme, Advising to Promote Diversity and Social Justice, touches upon the diversity concerns that have been in the national press and of interest on our own campus. We will cover several aspects of diversity and social justice with a focus on introspection and changes to our daily practices to encourage an environment of support to advisors, students, staff, and faculty who have felt marginalized because of their identity.

For those interested in presenting, please find the attached call for proposals.

Conference registration information will follow in the coming weeks. Please share this invitation with others in your advising community who may be interesting in attending and/or presenting.

For more updates about the conference, please check our website regularly.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the conference co-chairs: Celeste Spier (cspier2@unl.edu) or Meagan Savage (msavage2@unl.edu) by email or phone (402-472-4190).
