February 3rd - NACADA webinar: “A Narrative approach to academic advising: Helping students create their stories”

Arts and Sciences is excited to announce that they will be hosting a NACADA webinar entitled: “A Narrative approach to academic advising: Helping students create their stories” on Wednesday, February 3rd.

In this webcast, Peter Hagen and Richard Trama of Stockton University will examine how theories from disciplines in the humanities (namely, narrative theory) can be used alongside many of our more familiar student development theories to help us find new and dynamic ways to facilitate effective communication with our students. Please see below for a full description of the webinar.

In A Narrative Approach to Academic Advising: Helping Students Create Their Stories, we will explore how advisors might become more skilled at storytelling and story-listening. You will learn ways to cultivate the storytelling skills of students to help them create their own educational stories. The presenters will share their stories and ideas and techniques about how to implement a narrative approach to academic advising.

Arts and Sciences is very excited to be able to bring this webinar experience to our advising community and hope that you will join them.

They would love to get a rough headcount of potential attendees, so if you are interested in attending, or if you have any questions, please email Damian Whitney at dwhitney4@unl.edu.
