Art at Cedar Point 2017, ART 383 Mixed Media: Art and Nature, June 5 – 16, 2017

Art at Cedar Point is a 3-credit field school course taught over just two weeks at the UNL's Cedar Point Biological Station near Ogallala, NE. This year's class will be offered for both undergraduate AND graduate credit and fulfills ACE 7 requirements and continuing education credit for K-12 instructors.
Course work will help students discover individual creativity inspired by science, nature, and experience in the unique field station environment. Techniques will include drawing, collage, rubbings and natural weathering actions on paper as well as experimentation with natural materials in both 2D and 3D forms. Instructor Eddie Dominguez is a leading artist in contemporary ceramic and
multimedia art. He is currently an Associate Professor of ceramics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Artist in Residence at Cedar Point, flexible dates, Summer 2017

Residencies at Cedar Point offer artists and writers time and space to devote to their creative work in a beautiful natural environment, as well as opportunities to engage with scientists at the station.
For the first time this year, residencies are open to artists and creative writers across the country who are interested in the intersections of art and science. Hosted at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Cedar Point Biological Station in western Nebraska, this residency offers artists and writers the opportunity to engage and interact with researchers, professors, and students of the biological sciences. Both established and emerging artists/writers are invited to apply, including currently enrolled graduate students. Several awards covering the cost of room and board are available to artists/writers native to or currently living in Nebraska.
Residencies are for 1 or two weeks, and scheduling is flexible. Applications should include: Letter of Intent with scheduling availability, 10 images of art, or examples of creative writing, CV and contact information. Application deadline: April 1, 2017
