Registration for the eighth annual Future Husker University on July 11 is now open.

Future Husker University, hosted by the Nebraska Alumni Association, is an immersive and interactive Husker experience on campus for any future Husker, ages 7-13, and their families. The Nebraska Alumni Association has welcomed Nebraska alumni and fans through this experience since 2018.

Participants will take part in classroom activities led by the university’s departments, eat in a student dining hall, tour campus landmarks, and more. At the end of experience, the participants will conclude with a graduation ceremony. They will also have the opportunity of staying in a residence hall overnight for an authentic student experience.

The costs for adults to attend the event are $50 for Nebraska Alumni Association members and $80 for non-members. Children are $50 each. The registration fee covers lunch, parking, class courses, swag and snacks on July 11. The residence hall and Thursday activities have additional costs.

The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts is offering the following class at Future Husker University this year:

• Wacky Portraits: Draw Without Looking taught by Assistant Professor of Practice in Graphic Design Jen Landis. Have you ever tried drawing a portrait without looking at your paper or lifting your pen? It’s not as easy as it sounds—but it’s a lot of fun! In this class, you’ll get a taste of what it’s like to be a real art student at the University as we take on this playful drawing challenge. Once your blind contour portraits are complete, we’ll take it even further by adding marks, patterns, and paint to turn them into one-of-a-kind works of art. It’s all about letting loose, laughing at the unexpected, and exploring your creative side. No art experience needed—just come ready to draw, experiment and have fun!
