Murphy-Price received her M.A. in printmaking and painting from Purdue University and her M.F.A. in printmaking from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia.

• Feb. 9: Rebecca Fischer, violin, and Ann Chang, piano. 7:30 p.m. Westbrook Recital Hall Rm. 119. Free. A passionate educator, Fishcer is a research associate professor and Hixson-Lied Artist in Residence and a violinist in the Chiara Quartet. Chang is an active soloist and lecturer in the U.S. and Europe and associate professor of practice and artist in residence.

• Feb. 11: Public lecture by Photographer Bryan Schutmaat. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free. Part of the Hixson-Lied Visiting Artists & Scholars Lecture Series. Schutmaat is an American photographer whose work has been widely exhibited and published in the U.S. and overseas.

• Feb. 19 and 21: Opera: "The Tales of Hoffmann" by Jacques Offenbach. 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 and 3 p.m. on Feb. 21. Tickets: $20 adults and $10 students/seniors. The poet Hoffmann lurches through three unsuccessful romances, from Nuremberg to Venice and back, before declaring he will never love again. His failed conquests include a singer, a courtesan—and a mechanical doll. In the end, Hoffmann returns to his first love: poetry.

• Feb. 23: Public lecture by Studio Potter Steven Rolf. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free. Part of the Hixson-Lied Visiting Artists & Scholars Lecture Series. Rolf lives and works as a studio potter in River Falls, Wisconsin, creating one-of-a-kind functional pots. His work reflects an ongoing search to unite his ideas with the generosity and the intimacy that the functional pot offers.

• Feb. 23: Concordia String Trio. 7:30 p.m. Westbrook Recital Hall Rm. 119. Free. Karen Becker is professor of cello, principal cellist of Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra and director of the UNL/LPS String Project. She is joined by Marcia Henry Liebenow, violin, and Leslie Perna, viola.

• Feb. 29: Public lecture by Diane Favro. 7:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free. Part of the Hixson-Lied Visiting Artists & Scholars Lecture Series. Favro is professor of architecture and urban design and associate dean of the UCLA School of Arts and Architecture. Her research explores the urbanism of ancient Rome, archaeological historiography, women in architecture and new technologies in humanistic research.
