Students from the Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management program in Nutrition and Health Sciences and students from Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design helped plan and stage the Celebration of African Art, Cuisine and Fashion Sept. 27 at Quilt House. We had nearly 400 people attend and the contributions from the fundraiser will support education abroad opportunities for CEHS students. Thank you to the many CEHS faculty and staff who partnered with students to plan this event and thanks to those of you who attended. It was a wonderful evening.

A separate event that also had a global focus was held the next day at Teachers College Hall, sponsored by Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education, Humanities Nebraska and the Malaika Foundation. The “Viewing English Education Through a Globalized Lens” workshop attracted more than 70 high school and university instructors from across Nebraska. First Lady of Tanzania Salma Kikwete headlined an international panel who lent their expertise about global education. Faculty and staff in TLTE did a fabulous job coordinating the event.
