Scott presented his abstract, “MicroRNAs in bovine milk are bioavailable in healthy adults and down-regulate reporter gene activity in human kidney HEK-293 cell cultures,” at an oral competition during the ASN’s Scientific Sessions and Annual Meeting at the Experimental Biology 2014 conference April 24-30, in San Diego, CA.

Scott was one of three winners selected from 12 finalists by a panel of judges for a cash award in addition to a $750 travel award. The finalists are recognized during the ASN’s Awards Ceremony at the end of this international conference that is attended by more than 14,000 scientists.

While this is the second time in two years for a graduate student from NHS to be selected as a finalist in this competition, this is the first time ever for an NHS student to achieve this honor.
