Roz Hussin, instructional design technology specialist with Online and Distance Education and CEHS, will be the spotlight session speaker at the 2018 International Forum for Women in E-learning (IFWE), Nov. 28-30, in San Antonio. IFWE is a biennial conference, hosted by the U.S. Distance Learning Association (USDLA), the world's oldest non-profit organization promoting all aspects of distance learning, looking beyond political boundaries and geographic barriers.

Hussin’s talk, titled “IFWE are INvisible, be INVINCIBLE: A story of GRIT, GRUEL, and GRACE,” is a wordplay on the conference title and theme, “IFWE: IF WE Are Visible!!” Hussin was invited to share the story of her “life journey,” which spans half a century, across four continents, 15 countries, and three professions, traversing both sides of the SES coin, flipping from a privileged life to poverty and all shades in between, navigating intercultural and intersectional adversities as a Third Culture Kid (TCK).

Hussin will also be co-presenting a pre-conference workshop with her mentee, Kristine Sudbeck, a graduate from the College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) and current Dean of Academic Affairs at Nebraska Indian Community College. In their workshop, titled “Mentor 360,” Sudbeck and Hussin will share highlights from their seven-year Action Research collaboration, through hands-on interactive coaching activities.

The USDLA also hosts a week-long online webinar series, during the National Distance Learning Week (NDLW), November 5-9. Registration for the online webinars are free and sessions focus on a different topic each day. Hussin will present a webinar on “Insight into Mentor 360” from 1-2 p.m., Nov. 8.
