The Buros Center for Testing is pleased to announce the arrival of Pruebas Publicadas en Español II: An Index of Spanish Tests in Print (PPE II). The second edition is nearly 50% larger than the first edition and provides extensive descriptions of 612 tests, all of which are published wholly or partly in Spanish. The content of PPE II serves to acquaint test users with available measures and to facilitate appropriate selection of tests.
PPE II contains descriptive entries for tests that have been fully adapted to Spanish, tests that were originally created in Spanish, tests that were developed jointly in Spanish and English, and tests that are largely in English but offer Spanish translations of certain elements. Test descriptions are written using actual test materials rather than test publishers’ catalogs or websites. Using primary sources helps to ensure accuracy of the information that is published. To maximize its accessibility, PPE II content appears in both Spanish and English in a side-by-side format. In this way, the information is equally accessible to both Spanish and English speakers.
PPE II was designed to be equally useful for professionals who work with Spanish-speaking clients and who (a) speak Spanish exclusively, (b) are bilingual in Spanish and English, or (c) speak English primarily and have limited proficiency in Spanish. The test entries included in PPE II contain bibliographic information on 22 test features, including details about norms, test purpose, translation/adaptation process, intended population, scores generated, test origins, publisher, and pricing.
The tests are categorized according to subject matter in one of the following categories: achievement, behavior assessment, developmental, education, fine arts, intelligence and general aptitude, language, mathematics, miscellaneous, neuropsychological, personality, reading, science, second languages, sensory-motor, social studies, speech and hearing, and vocations.
