School leaders around the country are trying to find solutions to critical issues that persist in their districts:
-Critical teacher shortages in urban and rural communities.
-Lack of diversity in the teacher workforce
-Recruiting and retaining community responsive educators
-Preparing students to be college and workforce ready

Pathways2Teaching was created to address these issues. Dr. Bianco, an award-winning expert on recruiting and retaining diverse teachers, will share insights gleaned from her decades of experience as a researcher, teacher, and former school leader. She will be here at 3 p.m on April 25. Dr. Bianco developed Pathways2Teaching, a Grow Your Own diverse teacher program designed to encourage high school students in urban and rural communities to become teachers in and for their own communities. As a woman of color and a first generation college graduate, Bianco understands the obstacles that many students face. And, as a former classroom teacher and school leader, she understands the challenges of recruiting and retaining teachers of color. The lecture will be held in the Pioneers Suite of the Willa Cather Dining Complex.
