The Chemistry Department currently has multiple undergraduate research openings, especially in:
- Dr. Yinsheng Guo’s Group,
- Dr. Barry Cheung’s Group
These labs are ideal for students curious about physical chemistry, hands on instrumentation, and gaining experience that strengthens graduate school or industry pathways. Research mentors actively help students secure funding through programs such as:
- UCARE
- NE NASA EPSCoR Fellowships
- Other research support mechanisms
Students pursuing or thinking about pursuing the Professional Track are encouraged to reach out if they would like to:
- Talk with alumni who completed Professional Track training
- Explore summer industry internships with guidance from faculty connected to employers
Faculty contacts: Dr. Guo, Dr. Cheung, and Dr. Li
Spring Courses With Available SeatsStudents interested in the Professional Option which aligns with American Chemical Society standards and is excellent preparation for research careers or graduate study should note that two key courses still have space available this spring:
- CHEM 482 Physical Chemistry II
- CHEM 484 Physical Chemical Measurements
CHEM 484 with Dr. Barry Cheung will feature new instruments and exciting experimental modules providing excellent hands on experience with modern physical chemistry techniques.
If you would like to discuss the Professional Track, research involvement, or internship opportunities, please reach out to Dr. Guo (yinshengguo@unl.edu), Dr. Cheung (ccheung2@unl.edu), or Dr. Li (hli4@unl.edu).
