Teaching Computation with MATLAB and Generative AI Workshop

The College of Engineering and MathWorks is offering a two-day, in-person workshop - Teaching Computation with MATLAB and Generative AI - for UNL educators interested in strengthening computation in their courses. The objective of the workshop is to have curriculum materials and approaches that can be applied in your classrooms.

At the workshop May 11-12 in Kiewit Hall, educators will:
* Learn about MATLAB teaching tools
* Discover MATLAB aware Generative AI capabilities
* Get technical and teaching expertise from MATLAB experts and your peers
* Develop a computational module for use in your courses

Workshop conveners will keep in mind courses, skills, and previous experience of those attending the workshop, as well as any departmental requirements and initiatives. It will include a focus on GenAI and AI in support of the college initiatives in these areas.

* Date: May 11-12, 2026
* Location: Kiewit Hall, 1700 Vine Street, UNL City Campus
* Cost: Free for all participants
* Meals: Provided during the workshop

Who Should Attend
All faculty, instructors, postdocs, and teaching assistants with an interest in increasing the computation in their courses and improving their skills as delivering computational content are welcome to attend. In addition, the workshop will address the topic of effective teaching and learning in the new age of GenAI tools and provide practical tools and sessions directed at teaching with GenAI for successful learning outcomes.

The workshop is appropriate for educators across disciplines, including engineering, science, math, and other similar fields. No prior MATLAB experience is required.
