Faculty are encouraged to remind graduating seniors and graduate students from the college’s ABET-accredited engineering programs to consider joining the Order of the Engineer and taking part in the initiation ceremony. Construction management students are not eligible to join.

A one-time fee of $20 is due before the initiation ceremony – which is scheduled for 5 p.m., Monday, Dec. 11 in SEC 101. If Scott Campus students wish to join Order of the Engineer but are unable to attend that ceremony, they should contact Carl Nelson (cnelson5@unl.edu or 402-472-4128) to arrange an individual initiation.

The Order of the Engineer is an association of engineers dedicated to the teaching, administration, or practice of their profession. To be initiated, you adhere to a professional creed and accept a stainless steel ring to be worn on the working hand. The obligation is voluntary and for life.
