Lance Pérez named dean of the College of Engineering

After serving nearly two years in an interim position, Lance C. Pérez has been named dean of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s College of Engineering. Donde Plowman, executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer, made the announcement May 10.

Maria Szerszen passes away

Maria Szerszen, associate professor of civil engineering who earned awards for her research on material fatigue and reliability and for teaching, passed away Sunday, May 20 after a short battle with cancer. She was 63.

MwRSF team earns SAE award for SAFER barrier

A team of researchers from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Midwest Roadside Safety Facility was honored with the 2017 John Melvin Motorsports Safety Award for their development of the Steel and Foam Energy Reduction Barrier (SAFER Barrier).
