Depending on your skills and interests, you may build predictive models using cloud-computing solutions, develop end-to-end technology solutions that add business value, collaborate with stakeholders across the enterprise to align on initiative direction and strategy, or utilize geospatial data to enhance predictive power of models.

CURRENT INTERNSHIP OPENINGS
Nationwide Insurance is currently seeking candidates for multiple internship positions to join the Enterprise Analytics Office (EAO), lasting from approximately mid-May through mid-August of 2022 (based on schedules). Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis through December 31, 2021.

We are dedicated to working with business partners to develop integrated, end-to-end solutions that contribute to the company’s bottom line. As an EAO Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, and deliver your findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. You’ll work with enterprise-class analytic software tools and platforms including R, Python, Amazon Web Services, and Tableau.

Modeling
• Primary focus is on building predictive models (with traditional statistical approaches and modern AI/ML methods) using a wide variety of techniques and cloud-computing solutions
• Graduate or undergraduate, from any major. Some statistical or technical background preferred. Previous internships and/or experience with building predictive models a major plus

Actuarial Science
• Specifically aimed at students majoring in minoring in Actuarial Science who have an interest in gaining experience in the Data Science area
• Graduate or undergraduate majors in Actuarial Science, Quantitative Risk Management, or similar. Completion of at least one actuarial exam (CAS or SOA tracks) is preferred. Previous internships and/or experience with building predictive models a major plus

Behavioral Scientist
• Primary focus is on predicting, explaining and influencing the behaviors of Nationwide’s members and partners, using one or more modeling techniques, such as frequentist/Bayesian statistical models and supervised/unsupervised machine learning algorithms
• Degree in quantitative Social Sciences, Statistics, or related fields will be considered at the undergraduate or graduate levels. Experience with quantitative research, study design and experimental design is preferred

Telematics
• Primary focus is developing innovative, end-to- end solutions that enhance the company’s ability to utilize vehicle telematics data to identify and price risk appropriately
• Bachelor’s or above in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science, Computer/Software Engineering, Agricultural Economics, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related quantitative field. Experience working in the areas of vehicle telematics, logistics, pattern detection in sensor or smartphone-connected data, or geospatial mapping is a plus

Project Management
• Primary focus is on working with cross- functional teams across the enterprise to lead project inception, implementation, execution, and deployment
• Graduate or undergraduate, from any major. Some Business, Project Management, and/or Analytics background is preferred

Technology Automation
• Primary focus is on building integrated, end-to- end technology solutions that add business value, using various tools and technologies (e.g. Django, Flask, REST/JSON/SOAP, Splunk, AWS)
• Graduate or undergraduate majors in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Web Development, or similar. Experience programming with multiple languages (Python, Java, R, Linux shell scripting, Perl). Experience writing and debugging complex SQL queries. Previous internships and/or experience with application design a major plus
