The University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska-Omaha joined forces to hold the NE & SW Iowa affiliate for Aspirations in Computing Award Recognition Ceremony. The well attended reception and award ceremony was on April 3 at the Thompson Alumni Center at UNO.

Aspirations in Computing is a talent development pipeline initiative of the National Center for Women & IT (NCWIT) designed to increase women's meaningful participation in computing careers by providing encouragement, visibility, community, leadership opportunities, scholarships, and internships to high potential technically inclined young women. Aspirations in Computing is the only national level talent development program for young women in computing and information technology.

The NCWIT Aspirations in Computing program engages young women interested in technology and computing. By generating visibility for these young women in their local communities, the program encourages their continued interest in computing, attracts the attention and support of educational and corporate institutions, and emphasizes at a personal level the importance of women's participation in computing and IT.
