The computational biology team in the Department of Biochemistry is looking for a software development graduate student assistant to work on a web-based life sciences computational modeling and real-time simulation platform (https://cellcollective.org).

This student will work closely with senior software engineers to learn and utilize cutting-edge technologies (react.js, webGL, node.js, jenkins, etc.) to build modern web platforms. The start date is as soon as possible.

Examples of programming projects:
—Computational model analysis and visualization features
—Mathematical model simulation engine
—Extending our Javascript-WebGL library for interactive visualization of large-scale networks (https://github.com/HelikarLab/ccNetViz)
—Back-end infrastructure in node.js and/or other modern technologies
—Applying multiple techniques to optimize performance

Required skills: Demonstrated proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, JavaScript, Python, etc.)

Desired skills: Experience with JavaScript

Education: Current good standing in an undergraduate and/or graduate program
