An Undergraduate Research Assistant position is open to work on Bioinformatics as part of our project on antiviral RNA silencing.
Requirements:
- Highly motivated.
- Proficiency with Linux, Perl or Python, R programming.
- Interest in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
- Interest in basic scientific research.
Responsibilities:
Assist the PI and graduate students with:
- Genomic and sequencing data analysis and interpretation.
- Development of a computational tools to analyze genomic, transcriptomic, small RNA and proteomic data.
- Preparation of figures for publication.
Review of applicants will continue until the position is filled.
The PI has extensive experience mentoring undergraduate research assistants. Most of them have received author credit in journal publications. Two Undergraduate Research Assistants will be hired to participate in our research projects. Undergraduate research assistants will have the opportunity to learn about molecular biology and genetics, molecular virology, bioinformatics and plant biology. We encourage highly motivated freshman and sophomores to apply.
