CHME 496/896: Advanced Topics in Chemical Engineering Computation: Optimization in Biological Systems

Prerequisites*: CHME 312 or equivalent, basic understanding of linear algebra and biology, and working knowledge of a programming language

Description: The first part of the course will address optimization theory, solution algorithms and implementation software. The second part of the course will focus on the application of these tools to challenges arising in biological networks. Specifically we will address the use of optimization in reconstructing, analyzing and redesigning genome-scale models of metabolism.
