The Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP) is a ten week summer research opportunity open to undergraduate sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students to work at a participating Navy Laboratory under the guidance of a mentor. The stipend amounts for the program are $5,250.00 for sophomores, $7,880.00 for junior and senior undergraduate students, and $10,500.00 for graduate students. To participate, a student must be enrolled at an accredited 4 year US college or university and have completed their freshman year before beginning the internship. U.S. Citizenship is required for consideration; permanent residents will be considered for positions at the Naval Research Laboratories.

NREIP provides two hundred thirty-eight internships per year, any of which can lead to a permanent position with the Department of Navy. Participating labs are located in various states, including California, Virginia, Rhode Island, Texas, South Carolina, and Maryland.

The online application is now open. The application and all accompanying documents (official transcripts and reference letters) are due by January 6, 2012.
