Interested in working on a cutting-edge software for computer modeling and simulations of human diseases?

Our computational biology team (http://www.helikarlab.org) in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln is looking for a software developer/intern to work on a web-based life sciences computational modeling and real-time simulation platform (http://www.cellcollective.org).

The primary focus is on scalability of the technology as well as user-intuitiveness. You will work closely with senior software engineers, computational biologists, and educators to enable the life sciences community of students and researchers to simulate and analyze computer models of biological systems through a cutting-edge technology.

Responsibilities:
· Build, tune, and test overall computational simulation platform
· Apply multiple techniques to optimize performance
· Extend our JavaScript-WebGL visualization library for large-scale networks
· Work closely with users who will be iteratively providing feedback about the usability of the technology

Skills:
· Oracle Java (7/8) and JavaScript (ES6)
· Within JavaScript, experience in React, Node.js, AngularJS, WebGL is a big plus

The start date is immediate. Work hours are flexible. Remote work possible, if needed.
