Are you looking for a good opportunity to strengthen your mathematical knowledge for teaching?

The Nebraska Math and Science Summer Institutes (NMSSI) cataloge of math, science and education courses is now online (with additional science offerings to be available soon). Outstanding graduate courses are available to teachers at all grade levels, from primary through high school using a teacher-friendly delivery model.

In addition to a rich program of coursework available on the UNL campus, we are partnering with Nebraska’s ESUs to offer courses in 10 other Nebraska communities (see map). In total, more than 30 math, science or pedagogy courses are available. Whether you are interested in one course or in a program of courses as you work to earn a master’s degree, the NMSSI can help you achieve your educational goals.

More than ever before, today’s K-12 mathematics teachers face many challenges and increased expectations. As a result of the NeSA-M, Nebraska’s first statewide mathematics assessment, mathematics teachers need new learning opportunities that support them in responding to these challenges. To help provide these learning opportunities, we have expanded the math and education courses offered by UNL’s Nebraska Math and Science Summer Institutes.

Registration for summer courses opens on March 5. Visit http://scimath.unl.edu/NMSSI/2012/ for a complete list of courses and for information on how to register.

For all NMSSI courses, Nebraska teachers automatically qualify for a fellowship equal to 20 percent of the cost of in-state graduate tuition. Supplemental fellowships to further defray the cost of tuition and fees are also available on a competitive basis. Visit our Web site at http://scimath.unl.edu/NMSSI/2012/ for more information about how to apply for these fellowships.

As an additional benefit, lunch will be provided for teachers at all NMSSI sites.

Be a life-long learner. Check out our website and find out what courses will benefit you.
