Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Education running online fall program

Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Education (BSME) is designed for those interested in the learning and teaching of secondary mathematics. BSME participants explore the Hungarian pedagogy, in which a strong and explicit emphasis is placed on problem-solving, mathematical creativity, and communication.

BSME will run an online program for the Fall 2020 semester. They are not charging tuition or issuing transferable credit. (There is a small registration fee to reserve a spot in each course.) Students may take up to 5 courses in mathematics education. The program would be appropriate for those seeking an enrichment opportunity to supplement their regular coursework at their home institutions/universities.

Attached is a letter intended for undergraduate students, telling them about BSME and encouraging them to apply. Please share it with your math and/or math education students. Note that a BSME participant doesn’t necessarily have to be pursuing a secondary teaching license—a genuine interest in teaching and mathematics is what they are looking for.

The application for the Fall 2020 session is due on September 7. It is reviewed on a rolling basis, so students are encouraged to apply early. More information, including the online application, can be found at http://www.bsmeducation.com.
