The CIMA: Center for Intercultural and Multilingual Advocacy and the Kansas State College of Education are honored to spotlight Dr. Amanda Morales of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln who will be presenting at the upcoming conference, Beyond Envisioning Equity: Situating Teacher of Color Voices. Here is a teaser of what this session will entail:

"Critical Mentoring for the Development and Sustainment of Teachers of Color: Disrupting Essentialized and Race-Void Approaches in Teacher
Education"
Saturday, March 6, 10:40 am CST

Within the context of emerging scholarship on critical mentoring (Weiston-Serdan, 2017), this phenomenology explores Latinx teachers’ perceptions of, experiences with, and needs for affirming, race-conscious mentoring as minoritized professionals working in white normative educational spaces. Data illustrate both promising and troubling practices in mentoring, as well as provide clear implications and recommendations for reform in pre-/in-service teacher development.
