National Council of Teachers of Mathematics members will be electing four new Board members to the Board of Directors this spring. The Board of Directors sets the direction, establishes policy, and oversees the activities of the Council. The newly elected Board members will begin their terms at the conclusion of the NCTM 2026 Annual Meeting and Exposition in October 2026.

Individual NCTM members will be asked to vote for one candidate for Director, Elementary School, and three candidates for Director, At-Large. The election will be conducted exclusively online. Those with current individual memberships as of Jan. 23 will be eligible to vote in this year’s election, which opens Feb. 18.

Susie Katt, Lincoln Public Schools K-2 mathematics coordinator, is one of two candidates for the Elementary School Director. She runs against Dawn Pilotti of Currey Ingram Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee.

Katt holds a bachelor's degree in human development and the family, a master's of education in educational administration and a doctorate of education in educational studies, all from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. From 1996-2006, she taught first and second grade in LPS. She then served the district as a math interventionist from 2006-2008, a K-2 math teacher leader from 2006-2007, interim math curriculim specialist from 2007-2008 and elementary mathematics coordinator from 2008-2012.

In addition to decades working in LPS, Katt has taught courses as a special appointment lecturer at UNL (from 2011-2015, in 2022 and in 2024). She is one of the K-12 partners who helped develop the Primarily Math program of the Center for Science, Mathematics & Computer Education. She was a Robert Noyce National Science Foundation Master Teaching Fellow from 2012-2017 and has held numerous leadership positions with NCTM.

"As a dedicated practitioner and active member of NCTM, I am honored to run for the Board of Directors...I am committed to ensuring that NCTM remains the leading voice for educators by welcoming fresh perspectives. By blending the organization's established expertise with creative, modern strategies, we can ensure that every mathematics teacher receives the support and resources necessary for success," Katt said in her candidate statement.

NCTM members should look for an email from nctmhelp@mg.electionservicescorp.com or a postcard to vote.
