Does engagement necessarily imply that students will retain what we hope they will? How do students in your classes develop an appreciation for mathematical big ideas and relationships among them? What lesson characteristics seem to promote the permanence of concepts in the minds of your students? What works? Write about your big ideas — either really big big ideas or more modest big ideas — that help make mathematics stick. The Mathematics Teacher editorial panel invites you to submit manuscripts for the 2014 Focus Issue by May 1. The NebraskaMATH staff can help you write an article if you would like to submit something, as long as you provide the idea and can wsmith5@unl.edu if you are interested in writing an article and would like assistance.
